Lexus UX: What we know so far
Not more than a couple of days ago, Lexus Malaysia posted a teaser image on its official Facebook page with a caption that read, "something exciting is coming your way". Following the event of Lexus teasing its upcoming offering, it did not take long for the automobile fanatics to recognise that it is the Lexus UX that is en route to Malaysia. All thanks to the SUV's LED strip that runs across the tailgate and merges into the two taillamps, the task was, apparently, a cakewalk for the devotees. Also, the Japanese automaker has even opened the order booklets and is accepting orders for its soon to be launched SUV in the country.
But, it is not just the teaser image that we have on our hands concerning the luxury SUV. Since Lexus already sells the UX in various markets across the planet, most of us know what's on the cards and all that the luxury SUV is coming equipped with. With that said, read on to know what all that is known regarding the upcoming Lexus UX in Malaysia.
Lexus UX price & variants
Starting with the different variants of the Lexus UX prepared to land on the Malaysian shores, the SUV by Toyota's luxury arm will be offered in three variants, namely UX Urban, UX Luxury, and UX F Sport. The following table depicts Lexus UX pricing for the different models:
Variant |

Lexus UX Luxury |
RM 283,888 (OTR without insurance) |
Lexus UX F Sport |
RM 299,888 (OTR without insurance) |
At RM 243,888 to RM 299,888, the Lexus UX is no cheap commodity. And, the luxury SUV by the Japanese automaker should be sporting some high-end powertrains, tech, and creatures, shouldn't it? Well, it surely does. Come, let's have a look what all that the Lexus UX vaunts both outside and inside along with the stuff under the hood.
Lexus UX exterior & construction
Based on the Global Architecture-Compact platform, the Lexus UX sits below the NX in the automaker's lineup. Moreover, the Global Architecture-Compact platform is very similar to the underpinning of the Toyota C-HR known as Toyota New Global Architecture. In terms of dimensions, the Lexus UX measures:
Aspect |
Measurement |
Length |
4495 mm |
Width |
1839 mm |
Height |
1540 mm |
Wheelbase |
2639 mm |
As we mentioned earlier, the Lexus UX will be positioned below the NX in the lineup. The SUV, however, is not too small than its elder sibling with the UX measuring just 144 mm shorter in length as compared to the NX. Also, even after being 144 mm shorter than the NX, the UX's wheelbase is only 21 mm shorter than the elder SUV. Enough of numbers then. Let's talk about the design, tech, and features bolstering the SUV's exterior. Just like any other Lexus, the UX also sports the trademark Lexus grille at the front with a blacked-out finish. Flanking the grille is a pair of slim bi-LED headlamps with LED DRLs.
You will see the Lexus UX showing off an alluring posture thanks to various bold cuts and creases all-around it and the sleek wraparound taillamps which are conjoined by an LED strip. Other elements on the outside of the Lexus UX include squared-off wheel arches, integrated rear spoiler, blacked-out body cladding, heated ORVMs, 17-inch alloys, shark fin antenna, and others. Consider the Luxury trim and you will also get rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch alloys, powered tailgate with kick sensor, auto-dimming & auto-tilting ORVMs, and a powered moonroof. At last, the F Sport variant will get you special F Sport 18-inch five-spoke alloys with run-flat tyres, LED fog lamps, and cornering lamps.
The finish options include Madder Red, Celestial Blue, Blazing Carnelian, Terrane Khaki, Platinum Silver Metallic, Sonic Quartz, Amber Crystal Shine, Graphite Black Glass Flake, and Sonic Titanium. The F Sport variant, however, misses out on the Amber Cyrstal Shine finish and Heat Blue Contrast Layering and White Nova Glass Flake options instead of the Platinum Silver Metallic and Sonic Quartz choices.
Lexus UX comfort & features inside
In simplest of terms, the inside of the Lexus UX is one place to be in. All of the space, comfort, tech, and modern-day features are available in ample amounts. Further evidence of the same is the fact that even the Lexus UX Urban gets stuff such as smartaccess with push-button start/stop, drive mode select with sport, normal and eco drive modes, Lexus multimedia system with 7.0-in color touchscreen display, six-speaker premium sound system, four USB ports, voice command, 7.0-inch color LCD multi-information display, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, eight-way power-adjustable front seats with two-way driver lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control with interior air filter, and Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay integration.
Moving on to the Lexus UX Luxury trim, the mid-range model gets additional features like 10.3-inch split-screen multimedia display with a navigation system, Lexus memory system, heated and ventilated front seats, front aluminium door-sill scuff plates, and acoustic front side glass. At last, the range-topping F Sport model features F Sport bolstered front seats, perforated leather-trimmed F Sport steering wheel and shift knob, eight-inch digital instrument cluster, active sound control, and paddle shifters on top of the standard equipment that we find on the UX Urban and UX Luxury variants.
