KUALA LUMPUR: After the Thai market received its share of year-ending treat in the form of the City hatch and City e:HEV. It was now time for the Indonesian market to feel good, and it does, as it becomes the first ASEAN country to get the Lexus latest EV, the UX 300e.
Priced at 1.245 billion rupiahs (approx. RM 358,767), the UX 300e is the most expensive model in the brand’s local lineup. It is also the first fully electric vehicle the automaker introduced in the neighbouring country. Included in this hefty price tag is an 8-year/unlimited mileage warranty, covering both the battery pack and the car, and a 5-year free service package including labour and parts.
Anton Jimmi Suwandy, PT Toyota Astra Motor marketing director in a previous report said, “Toyota has decided to make its EV mark in Indonesia with Lexus because battery electric vehicles have yet to become affordable, and therefore premium segment customers are most prepared,
Lexus UX 300e EV on the outside benefits from sharp-looking LED headlamps, L-shaped fog lamp casing, 17-inch wheels, body-coloured door handles & ORVM, roof spoiler, powered tailgate with hands-free function and LED taillights with brake lights acting as a bridge.
On the inside, Lexus has fitted the EV with an array of comfort and convenience delivering features. Also, the semi-aniline leather upholstery adds to the car’s premium look and feel. Part of the Lexus EV feature list is - a 10.3-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support, a digital instrument cluster, a head-up unit, a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, powered sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charger, and keyless entry and start.
The Lexus UX 300e is solely powered by an electric motor that generates a maximum power of 204 PS and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a two-stage reduction gear. These performance figures help the car complete the 100 kmph sprint in 7.5 seconds and deliver a top speed of 160 kmph. Not bad for an all-electric car!
The said electric motor fuels itself from a floor-mounted 54.3 kWh lithium battery that calls for a range of 300 km (WLTP standard). The UX 300e comes with an AC charging setup of up to 6.6 kW through a Type 2 connection. A full charge is achieved in 5 to 6 hours using a wall box or public charging station. Speaking of the wall box, Lexus Indonesia will install one for free at customers' homes and would also provide a household socket charging cable.
It is to be noted that the Lexus EV can be powered by DC fast-charging up to 50 kWh via a CHAdeMO port present on the left side. Zero to 80 percent charge takes around 50 minutes.
Lexus has also fitted its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) with a strong safety pack, including ten airbags, ABS, Vehicle Stability Control, blind-spot monitor, and 360-degree view camera. The EV also gets the Lexus Safety System+ suite of safety features, including adaptive high beam assist, pre-collision system, lane departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control.
