KLIMS 2018: Perodua displays the X-Concept, and it is not an SUV
KUALA LUMPUR: The Perodua concept is not an SUV. Yes, you heard it right. There ain’t no concept SUV at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 from the Perodua stable. Instead, we have a hatchback. The concept that we talked about just over a week ago is, actually, a hatchback. The rumoured SUV is a different vehicle altogether.
The showcased idea, named as the X-Concept, looks as big as the Myvi at first glance. But close up, the concept vehicle is a tad shorter in height, and a little longer in length. Looking from the sides, resembling the Nissan Kicks, is a squeezed profile. The X-Concept displayed here is decorated with a two-tone finish using red and black colors. However, the C pillar has been painted in white. Just like any concept vehicle, the X-Concept gets non-real-world features like huge wheels, suicide doors, flush door handles, and miniature like wing mirrors.
The conceptual hatchback packs some muscular looks which make it look like an SUV. And according to the Perodua officials, the car is small enough for tight traffic and roomy enough for a practical usage. Stability, dynamism and advanced technology are what the X relates to in the X-Concept, says Perodua.
The X is well visible in the styling as well, especially at the front. The glowing upper grille with the Perodua logo, the lower grille, and the intakes all join up to form a bold X. There is a glowing Perodua logo at the rear as well. Inside, the concept vehicle has been fitted with an iPad Pro for the new generation which is “accustomed to tapping and swiping,” said Perodua.
