Kia Telluride gets styling and tech updates for 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: Nowadays, three-row SUVs are one of the trends in the auto market and so automakers around the world are coming up with their new and updated models frequently. The recent one is Kia who just gave a nip and tuck makeover to its award-winning model, the Telluride, in the US market. The upgrades include minor cosmetic tweaks and the addition of some convenience and safety features across trim levels.

Offered in nine variants, the top-spec Telluride now features a slightly revamped front radiator grille with the all-new Kia logo in the centre, The new badge is also positioned on the SUV’s liftgate. Besides that, it continues to feature the same bits while maintaining a bold style.

Inside the cabin, the entry-level trims now get a larger 10.25-inch navigation display, fully automatic temperature control, and highway driving assist. Kia also brings on board a Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Curve as standard fitment, which slows down the vehicle when it approaches a hunch on the road. Other standard safety features on the Telluride specs sheet are Driver Attention Warning, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Lane Following Assist.

Under the hood, the new Kia Telluride continues to get power from the same 3.8-litre GDI (Atkinson Cycle) V6 engine that delivers a maximum power output of 295 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 355 Nm at 5,200 rpm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. An optional all-wheel-drive system is also on offer.

What about the new Kia Telluride price? Well, the updates call for a bump in price increases. It is now offered at a starting price of $32,790 (approximately equal to RM 135,645) that is $600 (RM 2,482) dearer than the outgoing model.
