Kia teases its first dedicated BEV, the EV6
KUALA LUMPUR: The automobile industry's future is all about electric vehicles. Every other day we either hear about an EV's upcoming debut or launch and to top it all even upgrade. Joining the long list of EVs is now Kia with its EV6.

The Kia EV6 is the automaker's first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) that sits on a brand new platform, called E-GMP that stands for Electric-Global Modular Platform. In addition, the EV6 is the first of the next-gen BEVs to showcase the brand's new design philosophy that shows Kia's shifting focus towards electrification.
Kia Global Design Centre, Senior VP & Head, Karim Habib said, "EV6 is the embodiment of both our brand purpose, ‘Movement that inspires’, and our new design philosophy. It has been designed to inspire every journey by offering an instinctive and natural experience that improves the daily lives of our customers, and provides user ownership that is simple, intuitive, and integrated.” He further added, “Our aim is to design the physical experience of our brand and to create bold, original and inventive electric vehicles.”
New naming strategy for upcoming BEVs
Kia will be adopting a new naming strategy for this and all its upcoming BEV's. The new naming approach will not only simplify but all bring consistency across all the Kia EVs around the globe. What's the new naming strategy? Will the Kia BEV's name will have a prefix, that's, 'EV', followed by a number representing the car's position in the lineup.
The upcoming Kia EV6 is designed and engineered to be a perfect representation of the automaker's new slogan, 'Movement that inspires'.
The Kia EV6 is said to make its global debut in the first quarter of 2021, which means very soon.
