Kia Sonet iMT variant spy shoots surfaces online
KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently when Kia Sonet made its global premiere. The automaker revealed several chunks of information, if not all, about the car. Now we see the images of the Sonet iMT trim that was earlier missing from the scene.
In addition to the iMT trim, the Sonet is known to be offered in diesel automatic and turbo-petrol DCT variants. Under the hood of the iMT trim rests a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill making a maximum power of 120 PS along with a peak torque of 172 Nm. This unit is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox that operates without a clutch, with a couple of sensors and electronic actuators taking over the left leg's duties.
From the spy shots, it seems that there is a possibility of iMT to feature in Sonet top-spec variants. In the images, Kia's new crossover is seen wearing a bright orange colour tone with red elements of the GT Line trim, adding to its sporty appeal.
Kia Sonet's key highlights -
- The car features Kia's signature 'Tiger Nose' grille that goes well with the sleek LED headlamps and DRLs
- Giving the car an upright stance are the squared-off wheel arches
- Adding to its SUV quotient are design elements like roof rails and body cladding
- The taillamps look quite similar to that seen on Audi cars
- It features a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- It benefits from connecting car tech, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, climate control, sunroof, ventilated front seat, automatic headlamps, and keyless push-button
- Bose sound system with subwoofer is also part of the deal
- On the safety front, it has six airbags, rear parking sensor with a rearview camera, and ABS with EBD.
Kia is yet to reveal the Sonet price, which we think will be confirmed until next month with its launch. Stay tuned for the latest updates on Kia Sonet.
