Kia Seltos grabs a 5-star ANCAP safety rating

KUALA LUMPUR: Ever since the leaks began to flow over the internet, the Kia Seltos has been making it to the headlines in some way or the other. Following all the leaks, rumours, and speculations, the South Korean SUV was finally brought out in the flesh, earlier this year. Also, the Kia Seltos was recently seen making an appearance at the 2019 LA Auto Show.

According to recent reports, the Kia Seltos was recently tested by ANCAP. And, the Australia- & New Zealand-spec SUV managed to grab a 5-star safety rating. The Kia Seltos tested by ANCAP comes equipped with the likes of the six SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors with 360 view camera, and other advanced safety features like autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist system, lane departure warning, and emergency lane keeping.

Courtesy of the much capable safety package, the Kia Seltos clinched on to a perfect 5-star safety rating at the ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) Safety crash tests. As for the specific tests, the SUV performed great in frontal-impact tests and scored 8 on 8 in the side-impact tests. Moreover, the SUV scored 70% in the safety assist test and 61% in the pedestrian protection tests. In the case of the adult occupant protection and child occupant protection, the Kia Seltos obtained a score of 85% and 83%, respectively.

In China, the Kia Seltos goes by the title KX3. Besides that, the South Korean SUV is tasting great success in India, where it was launched in August, earlier this year. Kia is manufacturing the Seltos in three different parts of the world, Gwangju (Korea), Andhra Pradesh (India), and Yancheng (China). As we mentioned earlier, Kia recently launched the Seltos in the US as well. The SUV will be offered in the US in five variants, namely LX, EX, S 2.0L, S 1.6T, and SX with the price starting at US$ 22,000 (roughly RM 92,000).
