Kia reveals price list post-SST re-implementation

KUALA LUMPUR: Following the other automakers in Malaysia, Kia has released the revised price list of all the models in its line up with the inclusion of the SST (sales and service tax). This new 10% SST has seen almost all the vehicles getting cheaper over the previous 6% GST.

Looking at the current price list, there are two cars, the Picanto and the Cerato, that haven’t registered any price difference from the GST period. The prices of the cars remain at RM 49,888 and RM 103,000 respectively.

Apart from that, the Rio has seen the smallest reduction in price, that is, of RM1,000 only. The GST-inclusive price was RM79,888 while the new SST-inclusive price is RM78,888. However, the biggest reduction in price has been registered by the Sorento 2.2 CRDi variant. It was priced at RM185,888 but has now been given a price tag of RM179,888 only, which means a sharp RM6,000 reduction. The other 2.4 EX is RM4,000 lesser than the GST period.

The Kia Sportage 2.0 EX price has been reduced by RM3,000 while the other 2.0 CRDi GT Line is now lower by RM4,000. The same reduction has been witnessed by the Grand Carnival KX and the Grand Carnival SX. The Optima GT is now priced at RM169,888, RM5,000 lower than the GST-inclusive price.

It is to be noted that though the trend of price reduction has prevailed with the re-introduction of SST, most of the companies have increased the prices for a few of the models (CBUs). However, with Kia, none of the models has seen the hike, which is a great news for the prospective buyers.

Everything else said, the company hasn’t revealed the price of the Stinger yet as it is awaiting a nod from the MoF.
