Kia releases official images of all-new Optima or K5

KUALA LUMPUR: South Korea's second-largest automobile manufacturer, Kia Motors, has published the official images of its all-new Optima or K5. If you admired the sketches released earlier by the carmaker, then you will surely like the design of the fifth-generation model. If we compare it to the outgoing model, the latest one offers an “intense first impression”.

The new Optima now adopts a Sportback-like profile and also gets a more dynamic look. It flaunts a tonne of attention-grabbing cues that surely helps the car in standing out from the crowd and an absolute head turner. Moving to the front end of the vehicle, it gets a wider variant of the carmaker’s trademark “tiger nose” grille. You can also spot the stressed middle section joining with two folds on the hood that spread all the way meeting up with the windscreen.

There are additional lines heading towards the A-pillars that can also be spotted arising from the peak of the tri-element headlights. The front look of the vehicle is enhanced by the “extended V” LED daytime running lights. The visual presence has been improved with the more extensive corner inlets and an aggressive front bumper.

Talking about the rear design, you can spot small taillights that blend the similar “V-shaped” LED daytime running lights. The Kia logo is placed under the lip spoiler, and there’s also a full-width light bar that links the two units. To provide a more sporty look to the car, it flaunts dual chrome exhaust finishers and faux diffuser.

There’s no image of the interior revealed by the carmaker, but a completely new dashboard layout can be expected based on the earlier sketches. It can also get a fresh steering wheel design, a rotary gear selector, and even piano key-style switchgear, placed on the centre stack.
