Kia Picanto gets two new variants in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Malaysia is making headlines in the auto newspapers for a while now. Firstly, for the amazing offers, it introduced for all its brands and then recently for its CRS activities that we reported yesterday. Now, Naza Kia has introduced two new variants of the Picanto hatchback. However, the new Picanto trims are available in limited numbers, so hurry up if you want to grab either one.
Kia Picanto new variants and their price -
- Kia Picanto KX - RM 44,888
- Kia Picanto X-Line - RM 57,888
Note, included in the price mentioned above is a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Let’s now discuss what the two new Picanto trims have on offer over the existing options. Starting with the KX, it is the entry-level model that on the outside get reflector headlamps, fog lamps, 14-inch steel wheels with five-spoke covers, bee-sting style antenna, fender mounted turn signals, halogen tail lights, and KX badge on the tailgate.
On the inside, the KX feature list includes a traditional three-spoke urethane steering wheel with controls, turn-key ignition, double-DIN head unit with Bluetooth pairing. The model misses out on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Also, the dashboard, door cars, and gear knob tip are unpainted. Other basic features that the car receives are a labour-powered rear window, fabric seats with a plain design, and manually adjustable ORVMs. The safety kit comes with six airbags and ESP, thus making it the cheapest car equipped with the mentioned gears.
It’s the Picanto X-Line that gets all the bling not only on the outside but also inside. The kit includes a new front bumper with green highlights, repositioned fog lamp, large corner inlets with small intakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a powered sunroof. Since the model is inspired by Kia SUVs design, it showcases skid plates both at the front and rear.
The cabin features are equally impressive with elements like a single-zone automatic air-con system, flat-bottom steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Though the company has not confirmed its safety profile, we expect the car to get specs identical to the GT-Line model in this regard. Thus, including ABS with EBD and BA, six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, hill start assist, stability control, and ISOFIX rear child sensor.
Under the hood, both X-Line and KX trims will share the same engine configuration. Powering them will be a 1.2-litre Kappa II naturally-aspirated four-cylinder mill churning 84 PS and 122 Nm. A four-speed automatic transmission unit will send power to the front wheels.
