Kia Motors reveals information regarding upcoming 2020 K5

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia Motors first revealed official images and now more details regarding its upcoming 2020 K5, also known as Kia Optima. Announced to make its official launch in the global market in the initial half of 2020, the stylish sedan now features a new fastback design, lending it a coupe-like sloping roofline.

The upcoming K5 is all set to be more feature-packed and bolder, also featuring a new cabin, a wide range of powertrain options, and a whole lot of tech. The new-gen Kia K5 or Optima is supposed to feature a 16, 17 or 19-inch wheel, in different finishes with a shark nose-like aggressive front end.

The cabin of the car is said to get a mood lighting system, capable of releasing soft ambient lights from the panels in the doors. Kia Motors has declared that the new K5 sedan will flaunt an interior that is more driver-oriented. However, the brand has not yet revealed the pictures of the cabin.

The dashboard, at the interior of the car, is set to come with the carmaker’s latest infotainment systems, that features a wide touch screen display, which is attached to the driver’s instrument cluster. Kia allows the buyers to choose a 10.25-inch touchscreen along with a robust 12-speaker BOSE audio system and 12.3 inches digital instrument cluster.

Moving to the engine specs, it comes equipped with new Smartstream petrol mills. There are a total of four engine options on offer, which include a 1.6-litre T-GDi (178 bhp and 265 Nm), a 2.0-litre MPI (150 bhp and 192 Nm),

a 2.5-litre GDi (191 bhp and 246 Nm) and a performance-oriented 2.5-litre T-GDi turbocharged engine (286 bhp and 422 Nm). Except for the 2.5-litre T-GDi, all the other engines come mated to six- or eight-speed automatic transmissions. The high-performance mill comes mated to brand’s new eight-speed wet double-clutch transmission.

The safety features of the K5 will offer blind-spot view monitor, forward collision-avoidance assist, surround-view monitor, smart cruise control, blind-spot collision-avoid assist and lane following assist amongst a salient list of features.
