Kia is coming up with a small crossover, to be called Seltos
KUALA LUMPUR: For a while now Kia has been teasing us with the images of its upcoming crossover that it says will make a debut soon. We have seen the car’s exterior as well as interior (in sketches), however, we still were not sure about its name. In fact, Kia has been referring to it as ‘small global crossover’ in the media.
But today, Kia’s upcoming crossover has a name, and it’s called Seltos. How do we know? Well, the car was recently spied during a commercial shoot in the United States of America. By the looks of it, the new Kia crossover seems to sit between (in terms of size) the Soul and Sportage.
The real-life Kia Seltos remains faithful to the sketches that were previously revealed by the company. At the front, the car features uniquely shaped headlamps, vertical fog lamps, and signature Tiger Grille. The rear end looks very similar to the SP Signature concept that was showcased at Seoul earlier this year. The car displays a unique exhaust design and slim taillights. Overall, the Seltos carries a totally different design not seen ever before in a Kia car.
Seeing that the car’s exterior tallies to design in the sketches, we are assuming the same for the cabin as well. If that happens, the production-spec Seltos will feature a sizeable 10.25-inch touch infotainment display on the dashboard, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control, high-definition instrument cluster, and fine two-tone upholstery. Also, the car would feature a mood and sound lighting system.
The Korean automaker has still not revealed when the car will make its global debut. However, we are hoping Kia to bring the car either at the Moscow Motor Show or Frankfurt Motor Show, both of which are scheduled for September 2019.
