KUALA LUMPUR: After the resounding success of the Kia EV6, the South Korean automaker is prepping up to unveil its other pure-electric model, the EV9. The Indian arm of Kia has recently teased the EV on its social media handles with a confirmation that the car will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2023 which is scheduled for January 11, 2023, in Delhi.

The three-row Kia EV9 is 4,930 mm long, 2,055 mm wide, 1,790 mm tall, and carries a 3,100 mm long wheelbase.Previewed back in 2021 as a concept, the upcoming Kia EV9 is a 7-seater SUV with cutting-edge technologies and an advanced electric propulsion system. It underpins the same Electric Global Modular Platform on which the EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Ioniq 6 are based. As per the automaker, the said architecture will act as a base for its all latest-generation electric cars. It is to be noted that Kia has plans to roll out 14 pure EVs by 2027 with a target of selling 1.2 million electric cars by 2023.
Against the measuring tape, the upcoming three-row Kia EV9 measures 4,930 mm in length, 2,055 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, and carries a 3,100 mm long wheelbase. Compared to the EV6, it is 235 mm long, 165 mm wide, 245 mm tall, and has a 200 mm longer wheelbase.
As for the design, the EV features a block-like body with upright proportions and a squared-off front end. Among the other exterior highlights are technical-looking LED headlights and tail lights, a coupe-like profile, stylish three-spoke 22-inch alloy wheels, a high rear deck, and tons of curvy bits. Overall, the EV has a conventional SUV shape with a twist of modern styling that sets an amazing contrasting tone.
The futuristic cabin of the EV will accommodate up to six passengers in three rows and is expected to get several sustainable materials and high-end technologies such as a 27-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and a pop-up steering wheel.
