KUALA LUMPUR: The Auto Expo 2023 kicked off in India yesterday with all pomp and show previewing the all-new vehicles, which are ready to hit the market sooner or later. One of which is the new Kia EV9 concept, which boasts a bold and boxy silhouette and looks as big as the Land Rover Range Rover.

- The bulky-looking body of the SUV measures 4,929 mm in length, 2,055 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height
- The design of the EV is remarkably different with a fusion of conventional boxy silhouette, sharp angles, and modern lighting cluster. It features the brand’s signature ‘Tiger Face’ with a body panel in place of the grille, which is integrated with dynamic light patterns
- Among the other key exterior highlights are S-shaped LED DRLs, a vent duct on the bonnet, huge alloy wheel arches, rear-hinged doors, vertical tail lights integrated into the D-pillar, and beefy dual-tone cladding on the rear bumper
- The spacious interior of the Kia EV9 concept is kitted with a two-layered dashboard and a 27-inch single panel for the digital driver display and infotainment unit
- Making the cabin feel airy is a huge panoramic sunroof
- Kia used sustainable materials inside the EV’s cabin such as recycled plastic bottles for seat fabrics, recycled fishnets for flooring, and vegan leather for the dash
- While the automaker is yet to disclose the powertrain specs of the new EV, it is expected to get a dual-motor setup paired with a four-wheel-drive system
- The motors will be fed by a 77.4 kWh battery pack, enabling EV to run for 482 kilometres on a single charge
- As for charging, the upcoming Kia EV9 will support up to 350-kW, which will juice up its battery from 10% to 80% in 20-30 mins
