Reliable sources close to the company have revealed that Kia is planning to introduce the EV6 in both long and standard-range variants. However, both the trims will arrive in the local market with all the available options.
Let us know a bit more about the upcoming Kia EV6 -
- Globally, Kia offers the fully-electric EV6 in two battery options - standard-range model with a 58kWh battery giving up to 394 km and long-range model with a 77.4 kWh battery giving up to 528 km
- Both short- and long-range variants are offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive options, the latter with several power output levels with the corresponding reduction of driving range
- It might not seem, but the EV6 is a D-segment SUV with its dimensions reading - 4,695 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,545 mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,900 mm
- The key highlight here is that the EV6 supports both 400V and 800V charging, therefore, the car can take in up to 350 kW ultra-fast DC charging without the weight penalty. So, no thick and heavy cable is needed here
- The above specifications allow the EV6 battery to go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 18 minutes, or gain 100 km of driving range in 4.5 minutes
- In the case of the regular 11kW wallbox charger, the EV will take about 7 hours to charge
What many don’t know is that the EV6 works as a giant power bank as well. Its Vehicle-to-Load feature transmits up to 3.6 kW of power to an electric device. The said power is good enough to power an air-conditioner, a 55-inch TV for more than 24 hours. Impressive, right?
Also, part of the kit is a 14-speaker Meridian surround sound system and a Heads-Up Display that features augmented reality which projects turn-by-turn instructions
As expected, Kia has turned its EV with the full suite of driving assistance features. However, instead of regular blind spot monitors, it uses a Blind-Spot View Monitor that works on both sides of the car, and the video is reflected on the instrument panel and not on the infotainment screen
Kia EV6’s amazingness can be judged from the fact that it was recently crowned as Germany’s Premium Car of the Year.
Price? The fully-electric Kia EV6 price starts at GBP 40,245 (around RM 225k). The fully loaded option which we are expecting to arrive in Malaysia will retail for around GBP 51,245 (approx. RM 287k).
