Kia EV6 confirmed arriving in Malaysia this April 2022
KUALA LUMPUR: Dinamikjaya Sdn Bhd who is the brand guardian for Kia in Malaysia has just shared information that their all-new electric vehicle, the EV6, will be arriving and ready for sale in Malaysia this April 2022.
If you do a little research you will find out that Kia is part of the Hyundai Motor Group in Korea which means all the platforms and technology is shared to almost 100 per cent.
With their electric vehicle range, the only difference between Kia and Hyundai will be the exterior and interior design language and also the cabin features.
This means, this soon to arrive Kia EV6 will have all the same drivetrain and features as the best selling Hyundai IONIQ 5. It might also share the same selling prices. The IONIQ 5 selling price starts from RM 199,000 and moves up to RM 259,000 and bookings have surged past 200 units since its launch in Malaysia just two weeks ago.
With a number of technology and design awards already under its ‘belt’, this Kia EV6 is a viable option for day-to-day mobility, removing the perceived barriers that prevent many from making the switch to an electric-powered car. In Malaysia, the only barrier right now is the price as our Malaysian ringgit exchange rate is not favourable to the US dollar, unlike in Singapore where their currency is 3 times better. This is why even a tax-free electric car is too expensive for lower and middle-class Malaysians right now.
This is Kia's first dedicated EV and like the IONIQ 5, it provides rapid charging times, impressive long range driving, segment-leading interior space and can even act as a portable battery pack to charge electrical appliances or other electric vehicles.
This Kia EV6 is designed inside and out to deliver the very best experience an EV can offer, making ownership as convenient and accessible as running an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, and with reduced environmental impact.
This will be the design philosophy for all future Kia vehicles. This pioneering crossover - the first dedicated BEV launched under the new Kia design philosophy 'Opposites United' - displays a future-oriented EV design characterised by high-tech details.
It is powered exclusively by electric energy, with a choice of two long-range, zero-emission powertrains. 800V charging capability means the EV6 can go from 10-to-80 per cent battery charge in just 18 minutes.
