Kia bids farewell to Stinger with a 1,000-unit Tribute Edition

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kia Stinger is one of the automaker’s most highlighting models, as it revealed to the world Kia’s capability to build sporty premium saloons.

Introduced in 2017, over the years the Stinger received minor updates and now the automaker is bringing the car’s production to a halt. As a sending-off gesture, Kia has unveiled a Tribute Edition, limited to just 1000 units.

Let us get to know the Kia Stinger ‘Tribute Edition’ in detail -

Design: The Tribute Edition is built on the car’s 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 GT variant and on the design side benefits from several aesthetic enhancements. For instance, adding to its sinister touch are the black side mirrors, black Brembo brake calipers, and a set of 19-inch gloss black wheels. The special edition model is offered in two special colors - Ascot Green and Moonscape matter grey.

Interior: The cabin is decorated with bespoke Terracotta brown leather upholstery which can be seen wrapped on the steering wheel, door handles, and door side trims. Complementing the leather is the carbon-effect finish seen on the door panels and console upper cover.

Also, the headrest comes embedded with a new wasp-shaped emblem which denotes the car’s name and its potent powertrain. The driver’s side door sill plate is numbered providing the authentication of exclusivity.

Kia Stinger in Malaysia

Kia launched the Stinger saloon in Malaysia back in 2018. The car was offered in two trim options - GT Line and GT version. The former is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo engine making 251 hp and 353 Nm. The drive is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The latter, on the other hand, features a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 mill pumping out a max power of 365 hp and a peak torque of 510 Nm. It also gets an 8-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all wheels. The configuration allows the car to complete a century sprint in just 4.9 seconds.
