Six-Month Window to Clear Backlogs
The reduced-rate initiative will be available for six months, starting from January 3 to June 30, 2025. During this period, motorists with eligible outstanding summonses can settle their fines at the flat rate of RM150.
Speaking at a press conference, Anthony Loke emphasized the importance of clearing these fines to avoid complications.
“This flat-rate offer is designed to help people settle their outstanding summonses quickly. If these summonses remain unpaid, they won’t be able to renew their driving licenses or vehicle road tax (LKM),” he explained.
Loke also highlighted the staggering number of unresolved AWAS summonses—approximately two million dating back to 2018. Many of these cases, now over six years old, have led to restrictions on vehicle owners who have yet to clear their fines.

No Third-Party Payment Channels
Motorists intending to take advantage of this offer must ensure they use official JPJ payment channels. The RM150 flat rate is available only through:
- JPJ service counters
- MyJPJ mobile app
- JPJ public portal
- JPJ kiosks
Payments made through third-party services such as MyEG or Pos Malaysia will not qualify for this special rate.
A Break from Demerit Points
The MOT is also extending a rare concession for those who settle their summonses during the six-month window.
“Those who clear their fines between January 3 and June 30, 2024, will not have demerit points added to their record,” Loke announced.
This means that motorists paying off their AWAS-related fines won’t have their driving licenses penalized under the demerit points system during the promotional period.
Encouraging Compliance, Easing the Burden
The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to address longstanding traffic violations while easing the financial burden on road users. It also underscores MOT's commitment to improving road safety by encouraging compliance with traffic laws.
Loke urged motorists to act quickly and take advantage of the offer, reminding them that failure to settle outstanding summonses would result in complications when renewing licenses and road tax.
“We hope this initiative will help clear the backlog of outstanding cases and provide some relief to the public,” he added.
With millions of summonses still unresolved, this move is expected to prompt many to settle their fines and regain full compliance with JPJ regulations.
