JAECOO Malaysia delivers first 500 J7 SUVs just weeks after launch

KUALA LUMPUR:  JAECOO Malaysia has commenced deliveries of its first 500 units of the J7 Premium Off-road SUV to dealerships nationwide, just three weeks after its official launch. This rapid fulfillment follows seven months of groundwork, during which JAECOO established a comprehensive network and ecosystem to support the brand’s entry into the Malaysian market.

Commenting on the milestone, Leo Chen, Executive Vice President of Chery Corporate Malaysia, said, "It has been a great year for JAECOO beginning with an exciting preview period which led to an overwhelmingly positive reception during the official launch of the J7. We are very excited to deliver the first 500 units of our J7, and we are equally excited to place customers in the driver’s seat of Malaysia’s hottest premium off-road SUV,” said Chery Corporate Malaysia Executive Vice President, Leo Chen.

Interestingly, the first batch consists solely of the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) variant of the J7. In September, JAECOO will follow up with deliveries of the Two-Wheel-Drive (2WD) variant. The J7’s competitive pricing—MYR148,800 for the AWD and MYR138,800 for the 2WD—is positioning  it as a serious contender in the C-segment SUV market, offering a blend of luxury and capability at an attractive price.

JAECOO Malaysia Vice President Emily Lek emphasized the company’s focus on sustaining delivery momentum. “Our focus is on maintaining a steady momentum of delivering orders for the J7 in the coming months. We are also very happy to share that our network is ready to immerse our customers in the JAECOO “From Classic, Beyond Classic” premium customer experience, from vehicle handovers to after-sales service," Lek noted.

The J7 comes with a seven-year warranty or 150,000km coverage, reflecting the brand’s confidence in its vehicle’s durability and performance. JAECOO customers will be supported by a network of 35 dealerships across Malaysia, alongside a dedicated production plant and parts warehouse, ensuring reliable after-sales support.

The JAECOO J7 is assembled in Malaysia and is offered in a single powertrain combination and is equipped with a 1.6TGDI engine that produces 194 HP and 290Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The AWD variant includes an All-Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS) with seven terrain modes, making it suitable for various driving conditions, including sand, mud, and snow.

The J7 also features a 540-degree camera system, providing a comprehensive view for off-road navigation, displayed on a 14.8-inch infotainment screen in the AWD model (13.2" in the 2WD variant). Other key features include a water-wading capability of 600 mm, 19” two-tone alloy wheels, and LED headlamps.

Inside, the J7 offers practical amenities such as a large 14.8-inch panoramic screen powered by the Qualcomm 8155 chipset, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. The interior is designed with comfort in mind, including leather seats with multiple adjustment options, a premium Sony sound system, wireless fast charging, and dual-zone climate control.

Safety is a priority with the J7, which comes with 21 advanced safety features, such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The SUV’s structure, made from over 80% high-strength steel, helps reduce noise and improve durability, earning it a five-star safety rating from the EU Safety Commission.

The J7 is available in four colours: Model Green, Khaki White, Carbon Crystal Black, and Moonlight Silver. Early buyers were offered additional perks like an upgraded infotainment screen for the 2WD variant and extended warranty coverage. Test drives are available at JAECOO showrooms.
