Jaecoo J7 PHEV travels 1,300 km on a full charge and fuel tank

After Italy, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, and the UK, Malaysia has become the sixth nation to put the JAECOO J7 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) to the test in an ultra-long-range driving marathon; over 1,300km* route from Guangzhou to Wuhu, China, without stopping for fuel or to recharge the battery.

 JAECOO J7 PHEV marathon: Key highlights

• The drive began on 16 October 2024 and lasted for 13 hours
• The multinational contingent (including Malaysia) navigated the car through various environments like national roads, intercity expressways, and traffic congestion during morning rush hour.

“During the ultra-long range driving marathon, the JAECOO J7 PHEV surpassed its specifications to achieve a range of 125.2km while in pure-electric mode, which is 19.2km* more than the expected range. This is a testament to JAECOO’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) Technology which empowers the JAECOO J7 PHEV to maintain an efficient and energy-saving driving state. This raises the bar for energy-efficient and economical mobility, and we are proud to introduce the JAECOO J7 PHEV for the Malaysian market to enjoy,” said JAECOO Malaysia Vice President, Emily Lek.

JAECOO J7 PHEV in Malaysia

Scheduled for official launch in Malaysia by the end of the year, the JAECOO J7 PHEV will be available in two variants—All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Two-Wheel Drive (2WD)—catering to different driving preferences. Here are a few of its key details -

• It shares its exterior design, safety systems, and creature comforts with its petrol sibling, the J7
• Unique to the J7 PHEV is its hybrid engine and unrivaled range along with DC changing and an external output that allows users to charge and power electronic equipment
• The EV offers several driving modes, for instance, the All-wheel Drive trim comes with seven modes namely Economy, Standard, Sport, Sand, Mud, Snow, or Off-Road. The Two-wheel Drive variant, on the other hand, offers three modes, Economy, Standard, and Sport.
• It is powered by an 18.3kW battery and a 60-litre fuel tank that pumps out 525 Nm of torque.
• A Direct Current (DC) Charger that supports up to 40kW is also available.
• Consumers have the option to choose from various colour options, rim styles, and interior upgrades.
