Isuzu displays D-Max & mu-X concepts, and a new engine
KUALA LUMPUR: At the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018, head out to the Isuzu bay and you will find two cool concept vehicles and a fuel-efficient yet much powerful engine up for viewing. Isuzu, the Japanese manufacturer has put on display the 1.9-litre Ddi BluePower turbodiesel engine. This diesel-fed motor is yet to see the light of the day in Malaysia, however, is already part of the mu-X and the D-Max in different markets worldwide.
Rated 19% more efficient than its predecessor, the RZ4E-TC is also 20% lighter in weight and emits only 161 gms of CO2 for every kilometre travelled. Speaking of power, the RZ4E-TC delivers 16 hp and 30 Nm more than the 4JK1-TCX 2.5-litre motor which it will be replacing. Precise power figures are 152 PS at 3,600 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm from 1,800 to 2,600 rpm.
Isuzu took the Borneo Safari a little too seriously. It has come up with a concept version of the mu-X which has been developed using the experience gained from the Borneo Safari. The conceptual mu-X gets a ground clearance higher by 3-inch, steel bumpers, mud tyres, roof tray, and also a winch. The interior boasts quite a lot of leather and the exterior has been dipped in black and yellow colors. The conceptual D-Max, on the other hand, gets upgrades like 20-inch Lenso alloys, steel bumpers, a roll bar, and some blue graphics.
At a price of RM 1,180, Isuzu is offering accessory packages for the D-Max pickup truck. The two packages have been named as “Titanium” and “Robust”. With the Robust package, the customer can get a black bonnet visor, matte black headlight garnishes, a tailgate cover and garnish and door visors, tail light guards, door handle covers and garnishes. The Titanium package includes the same accessories, but in a chrome finish.
