The incident occurred early this morning on the North-South Expressway (PLUS), where a NETA V with registration number RAS 9926 was reportedly engulfed in flames. According to the Facebook page of the Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Department, the vehicle was entirely burned.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze using a portable water mist extinguisher, two fire hoses, and a hose with foam. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Farok Maasom, CEO of Intro Synergy Sdn Bhd, stated that initial findings suggest the vehicle struck debris from a truck tire on the highway. After stopping on the shoulder, the vehicle caught fire. No indications of product defects or malfunctions have been identified at this stage.

The incident appears to be an isolated case involving external road hazards. A police report has been filed, and the company is collaborating closely with the authorities to investigate.

A technical team has been deployed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the fire, and Intro Synergy will keep the public informed as more details become available.

The company expressed gratitude to the authorities and emergency responders for their swift actions and support.

A passenger, presumed to be a family member who had driven the car before, shared his thoughts on NETA’s Facebook page, expressing gratitude for the NETA V’s safety features.

He stated that, despite the vehicle catching fire, he felt the car had saved his life, describing it as "safe and reliable." He noted that after the vehicle was struck by truck tire debris, no passengers were injured, and they were able to steer the car to the road shoulder. Five minutes later, however, the car unexpectedly caught fire.

With the growing adoption of electric vehicles in Malaysia, concerns are rising about the risk of EV fires. While the NETA incident may be isolated, many question if EVs are more prone to such incidents.

This is why manufacturers like BYD emphasize their advanced battery technology, assuring consumers that their Blade Battery is designed to prevent fires in the event of an accident.
