Impressive production and sales performance by Perodua in Jan 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: The year 2023 seems to be a good one for the national automaker Perodua with happy news coming from all corners. Not only did the automaker reveal the all-new 2023 Axia that in just a few days received 3k plus bookings but also the brand registered impressive sales and production performance in January 2023.

In the first month of the year, Perodua produced a total of 24,590 units reflecting a 40.2% hike compared to Jan 2022 (with 17,538 units).

The national automaker sold 21,449 units in Jan 2023 which reflects a 23% hike over the same month last year (with 17,444 units).

Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad on the brand’s increasing sales and production performance said, “It is also important to note that for January last year (2022), there was a flood, a severe shortage of semiconductor chips supply, manpower issues and other parts shortages – which hindered production and sales. That being said, the improvements in volume for both production and sales indicate that the ecosystem is moving as planned.”

He added, “Aside from focusing on delivering our outstanding orders, we will also be launching an All-New Perodua Axia soon to further excite the market. We believe the value proposition will be well accepted by Malaysians.”

Other major announcements made by Perodua’s chief include -

• Brand’s commitment to its goal of vehicle delivery as quickly as possible without compromising on quality and safety
• Target to register 314,000 units and produce 330,000 units in 2023
• Conversion of nearly all previous bookings of the current Axia to the 2023 model
