Hyundai Staria Premium launched in Malaysia at RM 358,888

KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai’s all-new luxury people-mover, the Staria, has launched in the Malaysian market. The brand’s official distributor, Hyundai Sime-Darby Motors (HSDM), is offering the new MPV in a single Premium trim at a price of RM 358,888 (on-the-road without insurance, with SST exemption). Included in the price is a two-year or 50,000 km warranty. With a five-year/300,000 km warranty and a three-year/50,000 km free service package, the price increases to RM 368,888.

Touted as a notch higher than the Grand Starex, the brand’s first luxurious MPV is 103 mm longer, 77 mm wider, and 55 mm taller than the old van. The wheelbase is also longer by 73 mm. Here are the Staria dimensions -

On the exterior, the minivan has a futuristic space shuttle-inspired design with smart inclusions like a large grille, low-mounted vertical LED headlights, a slim full-width LED daytime running light bar, parametric pixel LED taillights, smart power sliding doors, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Hyundai Staria exterior colour options are - Abyss Black, Creamy White, Shimmering Silver, Moonlight Cloud, and Steel Graphite.

The Staria Premium cabin gives a feel of luxurious and relaxed space. Its innovative design architecture has wide panoramic windows and lower beltlines stimulating a spacious environment. Adding to the comfort are two individual Premium Relaxation Seats with a one-touch relaxation mode. Third-row seats are also spacious.

Under the hood, it carries a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine delivering a maximum power output of 177 PS at 3,800 rpm and a peak torque of 431 Nm at 1,500 - 2,500 rpm. It is coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and steering shift paddles. The four drive modes are - Smart, Normal, Eco, and Sport.

As for safety, the new Staria is packed with six airbags and Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite, the latter includes a number of advanced safety features like lane keeping assist, smart cruise control, blind-spot collision assist, rear cross-traffic collision assist, forward collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist, rear occupant alert, parking distance warning, surround-view monitor, and more.
