Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors launches all-new Elantra in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Hyundai Elantra has officially made its debut in Malaysia. Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) is offering the vehicle in a sole 2.0L Executive variant to the people of the peninsula with a price tag of RM 109,888 (on-road without insurance). The pricing also includes a five-year or 300,000 km (whichever comes first) warranty and 24-hour road assist.

The four-wheeler comes with a revamped and ‘revolutionary’ outfit, as claimed by the company and sufficient tweaks in the interior. It wears a new and bold exterior marked by a big grille with large ventilation. This is flanked by triangular-shaped LED headlights with sharp corners and fog lamps, which also gets triangular housing. The boldness of the anterior is highlighted by the body cuts present around the metal grille. At the back, we notice a shark-fin-shaped antenna on the roof and a set of large LED taillights.

 

Vaunting about the car’s outfit, Mr. Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of HSDM said “The Elantra has always been a strong contender in the C-segment due to its competitive advantage i.e stylish design, engine performance and advanced convenience features. We believe this revolutionary new design that is modern, sporty and elegant will also appeal to a broader market of various age groups”

Apart from designing cues, the company also asserts that its new coaster is framed with 53% advanced high-strength steel and has a great torsional rigidity. These, along with a greater bending strength is said to improve driving performance, durability and even ride and handling of the vehicle.

2019 Elantra Cabin

Hyundai also claims that they have refreshed the cabin with sportier elements, which includes a new sporty chequered cluster meter design, a reprofiled power steering wheel with a number of control buttons and black-colored leather seats. On the features part, the car comes with an infotainment system with the integration of Android Auto and Apple Car Play, 3.5-inch TFT-LCD multi-info instrument cluster display and 7-inch infotainment panel.

The powerhouse of the vehicle is a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers a maximum power of 152 PS at 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 192 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The drive is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission gearbox.

For the safety module, Elantra gets six-airbag system, the assistance of ABS for the brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, parking guide system and Hill-start Assist Control. Moreover, the vehicle is available in five colour options, namely Phantom Black, Polar White, Teal Blue, Fiery Red and Fluid Metal. Besides these regular colour variants, the company is also offering Stargazing Blue and Sparkling metal limited editions for a limited time period.
