Hyundai Genesis G90 Officially Unveiled
Kuala Lumpur: Hyundai has unveiled its first model under Genesis luxury brand. Dubbed as EQ900 in Korea, it would be called Hyundai Genesis G90 in our market. Made to replace Hyundai Equus, this model would be followed by smaller G80 and G70. The G90 also seems to share the same styling details with that of Vision G Coupe concept.
The dimensions of this car are partially larger than Hyundai Equus and measures 5205 mm x 1915 mm x 1495 mm (L X W X H) along with a wheelbase of 3160 mm. It has been designed under the eye of Peter Schreyer at Hyundai's new Prestige Design Division. It would be featuring the new Athletic Elegance design language that would also be seen in upcoming models under Genesis. Towards the front fascia, it would be featuring company's trademark hexagonal grille dubbed as 'Crest' grille. Further, one can also find LED headlights along with LED daytime running lights. The rear end is adorned with LED taillights and twin exhaust pipes. This car rides on 18-inch or 19-inch multispoke alloy wheels.
The whole cockpit of Hyundai Genesis G90 is designed with high-quality materials. While the seats are wrapped in semi-aniline leather with 22-way adjustable driver seat, elsewhere it gets Nappa leather along with glossy real wood. The centre console gets a 12.3-inch HD display screen which is further assisted by its infotainment system and camera. It also boasts of a Lexicon sound system with Quantum Logic surround sound and Clari-fi audio software. Further, its front and rear, three-zone automatic air conditioning system provide a favourable climate to all the passengers. Each of the rear passengers get a 9.2-inch screen along with wireless charging pad.
Under the hood, an option of three powertrains is available. First is a 3.8-litre GDI V6 engine that churns out a maximum power of 315 PS along with a peak torque of 397 Nm. Next is a 3.3-litre turbocharged GDI V6 engine that delivers 370 PS along with 510 Nm. Lastly, the most powerful is a 5.0-litre GDI V8 engine delivering 425 PS of power and 520 Nm of torque. Further, these engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to rear wheels. Further, an option of all-wheel drive is also provided.
Talking about the safety aspect, it is blessed with a nine airbag mechanism. Further, it is also assisted with Active Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, Driver Attention Alert, Smart High Beam Assist and an Around View Monitor.
