Honda showcasing EV Prototype, PHEV at Shanghai Motor Show
KUALA LUMPUR: While the whole world is still battling with COVID-19, it’s an altogether different story for China. The country is going ahead with this year’s edition of the Shanghai Motor Show that will commence from April 21 and last till April 28. Many prominent and high-end automakers will put on display their best of creation, one of which is Honda whose presence would be ‘electrifying’.
An official teaser was dropped by Honda on April 8 wherein two vehicles were highlighted and scheduled for Auto Shanghai 2021. While one is a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the other is a prototype of the brand’s first fully electric unit in China. Besides, the automaker will have a plethora of tech displays at the boot. For instance, visitors will get to see Honda’s next-generation safety and driver-assist system and 3rd generation Connect.
Apart from the future offering and concepts, Honda’s current EVs will also be on display. Like the automaker’s upscale sister concern Acura group will showcase the RDX and China-exclusive CDX crossover.
Wait, there’s more! Honda bikes will also share the stage with the brand’s cars, like the modest CM300, Gold Wing, and more.
Be it bikes or cars, our interest lies on both sides, however, the upcoming EV Proto and PHEV have our heart and mind. With no beans spilled, we must credit Honda for its secret keeping skills. However, there is a good reason to believe that the EV might be related to the SUV e:concept showcased by Honda at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show. Back then Honda was numb about the concept’s power or range figure, so the 2021 Auto Shanghai seems to move the vehicle towards protection.
All these are assumptions, the entire picture would get clear soo enough on April 21, as the doors of the Shanghai Motor Show will open up.
