Honda Sensing vs. Toyota Safety Sense

Honda Sensing vs. Toyota Safety Sense

We all know how technology has advanced over the years, and passenger vehicles have evolved from the time they first debuted. The new-age vehicles are attributed to futuristic designs, contemporary interior, and progressive features that set them apart from the old breed of cars. While modern cars have higher aesthetic appeal, safety is a vital factor that adds value to its credibility.

Understanding the need to make cars safer, car giants have developed their indigenous safety suits for providing a protective shield to help reduce injuries and fatalities caused due to accidents across the world. Honda and Toyota, the two major manufacturers from Japan, known for their cars globally have developed a special safety suite which comprises a host of driver assistance technologies. What are they and how they fare against each other, we will discuss in this write-up, have a look.

What does the Honda Safety Sense offer?

Before we jump into a conclusion, let us first take a look at features available with Honda Safety Sense. The special safety kit from Honda comes with the below-listed features -

Adaptive cruise control

It primarily controls the speed of the vehicle to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front by adjusting the preferred speed and distance through mounted controls on the steering wheel.

Collision mitigation braking system

This feature alerts the driver on sensing a crash through audio-visual warnings and signals. If the driver fails to respond timely, the Mitigation braking system kicks in automatically and slows the vehicle, or brings to a complete halt if required.

Lane keeping assist system

The lane keep warning system in a vehicle detects the markings on the lane and alerts the driver in case the vehicle moves off the road. It uses the subtle steering adjustments when the vehicle speed surpasses over 45 mph, and keeps the vehicle centred in the same lane which it occupies.

Road departure mitigation system

This is complementary with the lane departure warning system. It helps bring back the vehicle to the lane automatically using steering and braking if the vehicle moves away from the lane without signalling.

Traffic sign recognition

It is the most recent addition to the Honda Sensing that ensures maintaining awareness with the surrounding rules and regulations. That said, it automatically registers presence of signals such as speed limit, etc. on the road through a camera. Furthermore, the traffic road recognition notifies the driver through a signal on the dashboard.
