Honda Malaysia launches special-edition City and WR-V RS

KUALA LUMPUR: Are you a Honda fan and in the market for something special? We’ve got great news for you! Honda Malaysia has just introduced the special edition versions of its two popular models - City and WR-V models to give a pleasant surprise to automotive enthusiasts and potential buyers across the country.

Before delving into the details of the 2024 Honda City Special Edition and 2024 Honda WR-V RS Special Edition, it’s important to note that the quantity of these special models is limited to just 99 units each.

2024 Honda City Special Edition

Priced at RM 95,200, the 2024 Honda City Special Edition is based on the mid-spec V trim and comes only in Platinum White Pearl colour. 

The new Honda City features a sporty look and caters to the practical needs of customers. The exterior kit includes new front, side, and rear under spoilers, and side step garnishes, enhancing its appeal. Further adding to its exclusive and stylish look is a Special Edition emblem.

Honda Malaysia has also added a front Digital Video Recorder (DVR) that can capture real-time driving conditions, along with additional features like interior foot lighting and a trunk tray for more convenience.

The equipment kit remains the same as the City V, including automatic LED headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen head unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (wired), single-zone automatic climate control, Honda LaneWatch side-view camera, eight speakers, a 60:40 split rear seat, six airbags, and advanced Honda SENSING safety tech with eight key features, including Walk Away Auto Lock. 

Under the bonnet lies the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four engine as the City V. The said mill is tuned to generate a maximum power of 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. Sending power to the front wheels is a CVT.

Since its 2001 debut, the City has become Malaysia's top B-segment sedan, with deliveries of more than 450,000 units so far. Honda introduced the facelifted fifth-generation City in August 2023 and has sold 26,200 units to date.

2024 Honda WR-V RS Special Edition

The 2024 Honda WR-V Special Edition is based on the SUV’s top-spec RS variant and is available in Diamond Pearl colour. The price tag reads RM 107,900 (on the road, without insurance).

Just like the City SE, the special version of the compact and versatile SUV comes with a few exterior additions including front, side, and rear under spoilers, and a Special Edition emblem. Also part of the exclusive kit is a front DVR, an exhaust pipe finisher, a rear panel lining cover, and rear step garnishes.

There are no changes to the SUV’s feature kit and mechanicals. The former includes - all-around LED lighting, a 17-inch two-tone alloy wheel, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a single-zone automatic climate control, a Honda LaneWatch side camera system, parking sensors, and Honda SENSING. The WR-V holds a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating.  

The Honda WR-V SE is powered by 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated DOHC i-VTEC engine good for making 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT.

Launched in July 2023, the Honda WR-V quickly gained popularity in Malaysia. To date, the automaker has sold over 13,400 units of the SUV, with the RS variant accounting for 53% of total sales.

The 2024 Honda WR-V RS Special Edition is now available at all Honda authorised dealerships nationwide. However, for the 2024 Honda City Special Edition, we’ll need to wait a bit longer as it will hit the showrooms by the end of the month.
