2022 Honda HR-V: Dimensions
Honda HR-V S will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine generating a maximum power output of 121 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque.
According to Honda, the 1.5L NA mill offers comparable performance to the previous 1.8L option, thanks to the CVT improvements and new engine tech.
Honda HR-V Turbo E & Turbo V, powering the two mid-spec models is a 1.5-litre VTEC turbo engine making 181 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. The drive is sent to the wheels via a CVT unit. Compared to the base model, the Turbo trims get three drive modes - Econ, Normal, and Sport.
Honda HR-V RS gets the e:HEV hybrid powertrain wherein the 1.5-litre 4-cyl DOHC i-VTEC (Atkinson cycle) is paired to an e-motor together making a maximum power of 131 PS and 253 Nm. The petrol engine that basically functions as a generator can drive the car directly as well at higher speed and on its own generates 107 PS and 131 Nm. Here the power is sent to the ground via an e-CVT unit.
That’s three engine options in total, something very rare for Honda Malaysia. Also, it makes the Malaysian market probably the only one with three engine options for the HR-V.
