Honda Malaysia launches 2020 Civic facelift
KUALA LUMPUR: Leading Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda Motor has officially introduced the 2020 Civic facelift version for the Malaysian market. The car was previewed in September and the order books opened soon after.
The car’s mid-cycle upgrade sports some minor changes on the vehicle’s exterior. The front grille now has a piano black ‘wing’ instead of the chrome seen in the outgoing model. The bumper has also been redesigned and the lower section now merges into the black trim. The boot spoiler and the rear bumper garnish have been retained from the existing version.
The upgraded 2020 Honda Civic will be available in a choice of three powertrains. The entry-level 4-cylinder, 1.8-liter single overhead camshaft (SOHC) engine will produce 141PS maximum power and 174Nm peak torque. The two other turbocharged 4-cylinder, 1.5-litre motors will produce 173PS maximum power and 220Nm peak torque. The motors will be mated to Honda’s Earth Dreams continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Honda has equipped the 2020 Civic specs sheet with adaptive cruise control, low-speed follow-up, collision mitigation braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and a road departure mitigation unit. The car’s safety apparatus comprises a LaneWatch camera and an automatic high-beam feature. Standard safety features include front parking sensors, antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist, hill start assist, reverse camera, and emergency stop signal. That aside, Honda is introducing 60:40 split-fold rear seats and automatic rain-sensing wipers with the upgraded Civic.
The 2020 Honda Civic facelift will be available in the White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl colours. The Minato-headquartered company has also introduced the new Passion Red Pearl paint scheme for the facelift model.
Honda has come with the Modulo 1.0, Modulo 2.0 and an Utility accessories package for the 2020 Civic. These comprise rear spoilers, door visors, trunk organisers, sunshades and other items that spruce up the vehicle. The Protection package includes wheel lock nuts, and ultra-glass window/body coating.
The Civic 1.8-litre standard and the 1.5-litre turbocharged trims are priced at RM113,600 and RM129,600 respectively. The top-level 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol model is pegged at RM139,600.
