Honda HR-V facelift gets over 8,500 bookings in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia recently announced that the HR-V facelift has received over 8,500 bookings, out of which, close to 4,000 entries were done alone in the month of its launch, i.e. January 2019. Honda has already delivered over 3,000 units of this car.
The brand has also shared some interesting statistics. According to Honda, it enjoys a share of 87% in the compact SUV segment. Klang Valley region ranks first in terms of percentage of sales with a contribution of 47%, followed by the northern and southern region with 18% each. Also, 28% of buyers have opted for the new Passion Red Pearl color option.
Along with the E and V variants, the car also comes with two new models namely the RS and the Hybrid, the latter being only available in Japan and Malaysia. The Hybrid version comes with the Honda’s Sports Hybrid i-DCD (intelligent dual-clutch drive) powertrain, while the RS rocks a sporty outfit.
Talking about the exterior, the E and Hybrid variants feature halogen headlight instead of LEDs, and the interior of these variants comes with a part-leather three-spoke steering wheel and black half-leather upholstery for seats. On the other hand, the V and sportier RS variants are equipped with LED headlights, LED front fog lamps, and LED bar signatures. Unlike the E and Hybrid variant, the V and RS get a more premium full leather steering wheel and seat upholstery. Moreover, the sportier RS tends to revamp the number plate and fog lights with a garnishing of black on either of them.
The E, V, and RS draw the necessary power from a 1.8-litre SOHC i-VTEC engine that can churn out 142 PS of maximum power and 172 Nm of peak torque and is paired to a CVT automatic transmission. The RS variant exclusively reserves a new Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering system that allows the driver to maintain a low ratio while cruising and high while taking turns. The Hybrid version comes with an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine that churns out a power of 132 PS and a torque of 156 Nm. Moreover, there is an electric motor that is present in this variant, which can deliver a maximum power of 30 PS and a maximum torque of 160 Nm. The engine is coupled with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and the power goes to the front wheels.
The on-road pricings of Honda HR-V facelift variants are RM108,800, RM118,800, RM120,800 and RM124,800 for E, V, Hybrid and RS, respectively, excluding insurance.
