KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia this morning unveiled their most fun-to-drive and technologically advanced Civic in three variants and just one engine choice.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many variants of the 11th gen Civic offered in Malaysia?
The Malaysia-spec 2022 Civic is offered in three variants options - base E, mid-spec V, and range-topping RS.Is the new Honda Civic a safe car?
All three 2022 Civic variants come equipped with best-in-class safety features and Honda Sensing package. The global launch for this new Civic was in May 2021 with production starting in Canada for the American buyers and now it is ready for the ASEAN region where it is a firm segment favourite. Thailand got the Civic late last year and now as 2022 starts, Malaysians get this all-new 11th generation Civic.
This new Civic gets the familiar 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 182bhp and 240NM of torque via a CVT. The 10th generation Civic Turbo delivered 20Nm less torque and still its fuel efficiency remains at 17.2 km/liter which is class competitive because this latest version of the Civic is larger car and even better equipped.
The latest Civic has grown in size and it now measures 4,678 mm in length, 1,415 mm in height and 1,802 mm wide. Its wheelbase too has gone up by 33 mm. This allows for more cabin space and better rear legroom in the rear.
Honda's interior packaging results in ample head, leg, shoulder and hip room for all passengers. A feeling of spaciousness is immediately felt and shared by all Civic occupants, thanks to the low, flat beltline and uncluttered design throughout its cabin.
The pulled-back A-pillars, low hood, flat dashboard and hidden windshield wipers enable a windshield with clearly defined corners for a panoramic view. The outside mirrors also have been positioned away from the windshield pillars to improve visibility.
Further improving visibility is the top of the Civic's instrument panel, which has been designed with minimum cutlines to reduce windshield reflections and visual distractions.
A striking metal honeycomb mesh accent stretches from door to door across the dash. It serves both form and function, creating a dramatic visual dividing line between the audio, information displays and the climate controls, while the intricate flow-through design conceals the air vents that would otherwise mar the uncluttered and harmonious look of the dash.
High-quality materials are used throughout the interior, especially on touch points, with close attention paid to the operation of all switchgear and controls.
Repeat Honda Civic customers, which we are sure will be plenty, will notice that the Honda Civic V spec version with 17-inch alloy wheels which is priced at RM138,043.36 and the top version RS gets a Drive Mode Selector.
The Drive Mode allows the driver to switch between ECON, Normal and Sport modes. This selector replaces the “Econ” button and “S” mode selector on the gear selector found on the outgoing model.
There is a starter model which is called the Civic 1.5E and this is priced at RM125,634.64 and comes with Honda Sensing, LED headlights and 16-inch alloy wheels. It is powered by the same 1.5 turbocharged engine
The more expensive Civic 1.5 RS which is priced at RM144,350.09 gets full LED headlamps, black Ultrasuede upholstery, auto wipers, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, voice command, navigation, Honda Connect with an 8-speaker system, plus you get alloy pedals and paddle shifters.
In addition to that, the All-New Civic RS also comes with other safety features such as Honda LaneWatch, Six Airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Auto Brake Hold (ABH), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Walk Away Auto Lock, Remote Engine Start as well as a new safety feature for Civic which is Driver Attention Monitor.
