Here is the first official teaser of Kia Sonet
KUALA LUMPUR: It was during the Auto Expo 2020 (India) when we first saw the Kia Sonet in concept form. The South Korean automaker has now confirmed the SUV’s arrival on August 7, 2020. It will first be launched in India, followed by other countries. A few days before its arrival, Kia released Sonet’s official sketch that draws inspiration from the concept.
A few days back, the car’s test mule was spotted, giving us a lot of insights into Kia’s new offering. It revealed many things about the car like the front fascia would feature Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille, while the sleek LED headlamps look taken straight out of the concept. However, it’s the aggressive air intakes that give the car a sporty character at the front.
Further, enhancing its butch stance is the heavy dosage of body cladding seen on the car’s side profile. While steel wheels will accompany the mid-spec variant, the range-topping trim will get dual-tone alloy wheels.
The rear end, like the rest of the car, displays a masculine gaze. Elements like the connected taillamps and faux skid plate on the rear bumper give the Kia car a rugged look.
A sportier GT Line is also on the cards and is expected to get red design elements all over, including the grille, body cladding, brake callipers, and bumpers.
As for Kia Sonet’s interior, the previously leaked spy shots revealed a few details that resemble the Seltos. The car will feature a large 10.25-inch floating infotainment system and a redesigned central console.
Upcoming Kia Sonet feature list includes several great weapons that make it irresistible. Included in its kit are following connectivity and safety features -
- UVO connected car technology
- Sound Mood lighting
- Bose sound system
- Wireless phone charger
- Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
- Cruise control
- Climate control
- Six airbags
- Electronic stability control
- Rear parking sensors with camera
- ABS with EBD
The Kia Sonet specs sheet is expected to feature three powertrains - 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel. It will even include an iMT clutchless manual gearbox and there is also a possibility of a diesel variant with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
