Get ready for five new Mazda SUVs - CX-50, CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90

KUALA LUMPUR: With an intent to offer customers a diverse choice of SUVs, Mazda is set to reveal a whole bunch of models in the next two years. These are - CX-50, CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90. According to the automaker, the upcoming SUVs will provide “both the driving pleasure and the latest environmental performance to meet demands in the continuously growing global SUV segment.”

Set to be introduced from 2022 onwards, these models will incorporate the brand’s development and production technological assets, like Skyactiv technology, which it has accumulated over time.

Out of the five upcoming SUVs, the CX-50 belongs to the Small Product group just like the Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-30, while the other comes under the Large Product group. The latter will be based on the Mazda next-generation large product platform that also supports a straight-six turbocharged mill (gasoline or diesel) paired with either a plug-in hybrid a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

Mazda has also announced the major markets where these models will be available first. 

Mazda CX-60 (Two rows)	Europe, Japan, etc.

Mazda CX-80 (Three rows)	Europe, Japan, etc
Mazda CX-90 (Wide body, three rows)	North America, etc

Speaking about the CX-50, it is a crossover SUV that will be introduced in the U.S. market, where a strong SUV presence and off-road performance are in high demand. Its production will begin next year in January at the new Mazda-Toyota joint-venture factory in the U.S.

As for markets having narrower roads and smaller parking lots like Japan and Europe, the automaker aims to launch a two-row CX-60 and the three-row CX-80. Further expanding the brand’s mid-size crossover SUV lineup are the CX-70 and CX-90 which will hit North America and other markets where customers prefer larger models. These cars will have a wide-body type, with the CX-70 having two rows and the CX-90 having three.
