Get creative while at home via Porsche Masterclasses
KUALA LUMPUR: Around the globe, people are sitting at home and getting bored, as many governments have imposed lockdowns to control the spread of coronavirus. During these stressful times, Porsche has come up with its masterclasses, where interested individuals can sharpen their creative skills. Thoughtful, we must say.
With the help of the Porsche Masterclasses, you can improve your car sketching and photography skills during this quarantine season. With spare time at hand, now is the chance to learn and broaden those horizons.
Porsche says, “The aim has been to create a series of guides that will enable enthusiasts to polish their skills in several disciplines, including car photography, design, detailing, art – and even driving.”
Guide to take better car photographs
Wondering how to take car photos while it’s parked in the garage? Well, answering the question is Richard Pardon, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team official photographer. He gives advice on equipment, editing applications, and right down to the very details. He has taken car photos that have featured in several magazines and websites.
The most important advice Pardon gives is that one doesn’t need expensive equipment; for starters, he suggested using the phone camera. He says that the phone cameras have come a long way, and there is no hassle to switch lenses, bodies, and shooting modes. He says the images might not be photoshoot or billboard standards but are good enough to go on social media.
In addition, he also suggests a few mobile editing applications. He uses explicitly - Lightroom mobile app as it offers several adjustments. He also recommends Unfold to layout Insta stories and VSCO for filters.
Apart from sharing the basics of phone photography and mobile applications, he also talks about the technical aspect of art. You’ll find him discussing light, composition, shutter speed, and making use of the whole day - all essential in photography.
Pardon says, “I’ll be sharing more tips from the topics here over the course of this week on Newsroom’s Instagram feed and I encourage you to share any images you take with the hashtag #GetCreativeWithPorsche. I’ll give feedback where I can. In the meantime, have fun, experiment and get creative. Just because we are currently on lockdown, doesn’t mean we can’t show the world how we see it.”
Richard Pardon, over the course of next week, will cover one topic a day, interested individuals can follow his masterclass on Newsroom’s social media handles - @PorscheNewsroom on Twitter, @Porsche_Newsroom on Instagram, and the official Porsche tribe on Drivetribe.
The next masterclass will be with Michael Mauer, Head of Style Porsche and he’ll run you through how to sketch the iconic Porsche 911.
