In the teaser images, the Geely Radar appears in a lightly wrapped blue camouflage along with cyclists and cycles loaded on the flatbed. With the latter, we can assume that the upcoming Chinese pickup will be positioned as a lifestyle truck rather than a commercial workhorse.
According to CarNewsChina, each letter in the name ‘Radar’ has a meaning; R is Rational, A is Alone, D is Discovery, A is Accompany and R is Romantic.
In terms of design, the upcoming Geely truck boasts a full-width LED light arrangement spanning the front grille and square-topped wheel arches. At the rear, tail lights are also connected by a full-width light bar. Speaking about the size, the Radar looks like a compact pickup truck just like the Hilux and Ranger, rather than something bigger such as the Ford F150.
As for the pickup’s interior, Geely has not yet revealed any official image. However, the earlier spy shots showcase a cabin similar to the Geely Haoyue. The latter is rumoured to come to Malaysia as the Proton X90. No information is available yet on the Geely Radar electric drivetrain as well.
Will it come to Malaysia?
As the Smart #1, which shares the platform with the pickup, is set to arrive in Malaysia, the market speculates that the latter may also arrive in Malaysia as a Proton model. However, nothing is confirmed as of now.
