Geely-owned Zeekr unveils new electric SUV, the Zeekr 7X

KUALA LUMPUR: Geely's premium electric vehicle brand Zeekr will soon make its Malaysia debut with the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009 as its first offerings. Well ahead of that, the EV maker introduced yet another electric SUV in the Chinese market, called the Zeekr 7X. It is an SUV variant of the 007 sedan previously teased with the codename CX1E.

The Zeekr 7X is a 4.8-metre EV crossover that stands neck and neck with the Tesla Model Y. Based on the PMA2+ platform, the EV measures 4825 mm in length, 1930 mm in width, 1656 mm in height and carries a wheelbase of 2925 mm. Compared to the Model Y, it is 75 mm longer, 10 mm wider, and 32 mm higher.

The new Zeekr 7X showcases the brand’s "Hidden Energy" design with the "Zeekr Stargate interactive screen" integrated into the front end. It includes an interactive light bar with the headlamp clusters positioned below it. On the rear of the EV lies striking LED tail lights that also extend from one end to another. 

Another key highlight is a LiDAR sensor mounted on the EV’s roof, offering advanced autonomous driving capabilities. Further adding to the SUV’s sleek and futuristic look are concealed door handles.

While no official interior images are provided, the spy shots of the minimalist cabin reveal a minimalist look with a newly styled steering wheel, a floating centre display, and a curved instrument cluster.

Under the metal skin, the new Zeekr EV is equipped with high-performance silicon carbide motors, which support both lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries. The automaker has confirmed that the base-spec trim will feature the "Golden Brick'' LFP battery (developed by Geely) while higher-end trims will be equipped with a ternary NMC battery (developed by CATL). The EV also features an 800 V electrical architecture which enables super-fast charging capabilities.

The all-new Zeekr 7X will hit the Chinese market later this year with a price ranging between CNY 240,000 (RM 154,472) to CNY 350,000 (RM 225,272).
