Geely Okavango SUV to make Philippines debut soon, details out

KUALA LUMPUR: Geely Philippines lineup currently includes Azkarra and Coolray SUVs and now thanks to AutoIndustriya we know that another 7-seater SUV will soon be joining the range. Called the Okavango, it is a rebadged version of the Haoyue, available in the Chinese market.

Also, the Philippines auto portal, AutoIndustriya has revealed full-specifications of the upcoming Geely Okavango. Starting with its variants and price -

Geely Philippines will offer the Okavango in two trim options - Comfort and range-topping Urban, priced at Php 1,208 million (RM 103,820) and Php 1.328 million (RM 114,131), respectively.

Powering the Okavango SUV will be a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol mill combined to a 48V mild hybrid system. The engine makes a maximum power of 190 hp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox (also found in Proton X70 and X50).

Both the Okavango Comfort and Urban variants will offer three drive modes - Eco, Comfort, and Sport. Besides both benefit from a 52-litre fuel tank, electronic parking brake with auto brake hold function, McPherson struts front suspension, and multi-link rear suspension. The dimensions remain the same as well - 4,835mm X 1,900mm X 1,785mm (LXWXH). The wheelbase and ground clearance figures are 2,815 mm and 194 mm, respectively. The boot space has a capacity of 257-litre which increases to 1,200-litre with 3rd-row seats folded and to 2,050-litre with both 2nd and 3rd rows down.

Adding to the storage options are Okavango's 19 seat configurations, 42 storage spaces, and double-layer console.

With the Philippines getting the all-new Geely Okavango, we are wondering if Proton Malaysia will add this one too in its 'X' family that already includes the X70 SUV and X50 crossover.
