Geely Galaxy L7 plug-in hybrid SUV set for debut in Q2 2023
KUALA LUMPUR: Back in February, the Chinese automaker Geely announced its Galaxy electric vehicle lineup that marks its foray into the growing EV space. Under the new range, Geely plans to introduce seven new EVs in the next two years; the first one is the Galaxy L7 plug-in hybrid SUV. Set to go on sale in the second quarter of this year, the upcoming Geely EV will rival the likes of the BYD Song Plus.

The report reveals that the car measures 4700 mm in length, 1905 mm in width, and 1685 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2785 mm. These dimensions are almost identical to the Honda CR-V. The curb weight of the EV is rated 1860 kg.
As announced earlier, the Galaxy L7 will come equipped with a NordThor Hybrid 8848 powertrain and the NordThor three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). The former combines a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with either one or two electric motors making a massive output of up to 600 hp. The EV runs from zero to 100 kmph in 6.9 seconds before attaining a top speed of 200 kmph.
The said hybrid powertrain boasts an outstanding peak thermal efficiency of 44.26%, made possible by an industry-first predictive energy management system. This revolutionary system offers an improved fuel efficiency by up to 15%, claims Geely.
Inside, the hi-tech EV will be kitted with four big displays, including a 13.2-inch central control screen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 16.2-inch co-pilot screen, and a 25.6-inch HUD screen.
According to the Chinese publication, the Geely Galaxy L7 plug-in hybrid SUV will retail for around CNY 200,000 (approximately equal to RM 128,407).
Whether Malaysians will have the opportunity to get their hands on any of the upcoming Galaxy vehicles rebadged as Proton models or not, time will tell.
