Four Proton showrooms resumed operations from today
KUALA LUMPUR: As the government allows the automotive sales and manufacturing activities to operate, Proton announced the reopening of its showrooms. As per the company’s press release, the outlets located at Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, and Perlis are re-opened from today. It is to be noted that Proton showrooms in Sabah and Sarawak have been open since July 2021.
In the context of the remaining outlets, the automaker says the reopening will be gradual in accordance with the benchmarks set by the government. As per that, only fully vaccinated sales staff (2 doses + 2 weeks) are allowed to work in showrooms to ensure the safety of the customers and staff both. And thus, the reopening depends on the number of targeted adults who have been vaccinated in each state.
More than 86% of Proton staff are fully vaccinated and 98% have received their first dose. For the vaccination programme, the automaker has repurposed its sports complex at the Tanjung Malim facility as the dispensing centre.
Further, the national automaker clarified that the customers thinking to visit a Proton showroom need to get an appointment first, as walk-ins will not be entertained. Also, only fully vaccinated customers will be allowed to visit.
Customers need to show their digital vaccine certificate and current MySejahtera status first and then check-in will be done via scanning the premises QR code. A thermal check will also be there before entry.
It is mandatory for staff and customers to wear double face masks and to maintain physical distancing.
For Proton service centres also, customers need to take appointments first and only then vehicles will be accepted for service. The booking can be made via the MyProton app, or via the Proton website at https://www.proton.com/en or by calling the respective outlet.
