Ford teases new Kuga ahead of its debut
KUALA LUMPUR: The second-generation Ford Kuga, which has been serving since 2012 is finally going to be replaced by its next iteration. The company has revealed a teaser video and the car is scheduled to debut tomorrow.
Alongside the teaser video of the new Kuga, the American auto-manufacturer has also given a glance of its forthcoming Ford Escape. The Escape is also scheduled to debut tomorrow along with the new Kuga.
The teaser is wee enough to reveal anything apart from a few modules. It started with giving a glimpse of headlights and ended with the model’s name. In between this, the style cues around the front corners of the bumper and a rotary dial gearshift selector is shown in the video. The rotary dial gearshift selector is a carry forward from the Focus, which has also made its way in the Kuga as well.
No more details are revealed and the available facets speak nothing about the interior and powertrain. However, it is highly expected that the Kuga will arrive with both petrol and diesel mills. To recall, the 2017 facelift is equipped with a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which is available in three tunings. Moreover, a 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine with a front-wheel drive transmission alongside the existing 2.0-litre TDCI diesel engine is also there. The diesel unit is available in two tunings.
The upcoming Kuga is likely to get the 8F24 for the petrol units, while the higher-rated 8F35 is expected to serve the diesel part. On the feature front, the new Kuga may accoutre the latest iteration of the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite. The suite comprises of speed sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and Active Park Assist 2 for automated parking.
