Ford-SDAC celebrate Global Caring Month in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Ford Motor Company is celebrating the annual Global Caring Month in Malaysia in association with its local sole distributor, Sime Darby Auto Connexion. The 2023 Global Caring Month marks the eighteenth year of this commitment, under which the Ford Motor Company Fund will present a total grant of US$20,000 (approximately equal to RM 94,000) to two non-profit organisations in Malaysia viz. Global Peace Foundation Malaysia and Peninsula Malaysia Orang Asli Foundation.
Global Peace Festival Malaysia is a non-religious, non-partisan, and non-profit organisation that will use the US$10,000 grant to help refurbish houses and boost the food supply for 17 families in Orang Asli. It will also facilitate cooking sessions for communities to aid them in their food preparation.
The organisation has been working for underserved communities in both Peninsular and East Malaysia over the last 10 years. It addresses the real needs of communities, ranging from basic needs to access to education, livelihood, and economic empowerment.
The other recipient of the grant is the Peninsula Malaysia Orang Asli Association, which is also a non-profit organisation founded by Orang Asli community members. The organisation will use the funds for restoring and upgrading school facilities, such as classrooms, libraries, computer labs, and other essential amenities, in the Slim River District area. The organisation also supports the communities by providing flood assistance, healthcare, food supplies, and native gatherings.
