Ford Fusion 2017 Revealed, Around RM151,800 (Expected)
Kuala Lumpur: Ford, the American car maker unveiled an upgraded version of Ford Fusion known as the Mondeo at the Detroit Motor Show 2016. The all-new Ford Fusion receives several upgrades that include an aesthetic makeover, new power plant along with circular gear shifter, refreshed and upgraded SYNC 3 infotainment system. Besides the 2017 Ford fusion, the American carmaker is also planning to launch its two other models namely Ford Everest and Ford S-MAX which were earlier spied in Malaysia.
At the front end, the four-wheeled machine gets Aston martin styled Black finish grille that perfectly matches with the new LED fog lights. While the rear end receives minor updates such as a rear spoiler and twin exhaust mufflers. All these features, appealing refreshed look and more aggressive styling. Apart from these, it is benefitted with 19-inch alloy wheels and a continuous damping system.
On the account of the interior, the Mondeo is provided with modernized SYNC 3 infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto and a circular gear selector instead of traditional gear knobs. Upholstery is all done with the leather. Besides these features, it is the first Ford car which is benefitted with a pedestrian detection system.
The all-new Ford Mondeo features a 2.7-litre turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that churns out a maximum power of 325 hp and a peak torque of 475 Nm. With such an enormous power output, this American hustler might become the segment leader. The engine power is transferred to the four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines are now equipped with a twin-scroll turbo system, that helps in generating a maximum power of 200 hp and 250 hp respectively. With such powerful engines, it has become the most powerful sedan in the American market and it is expected to match to the likes of Honda Accord and Toyota Camry in Malaysia. 2016 Ford Fusion Mondeo will be available in the market from May 2016 and the price is expected to be around RM151,800.
The manufacturer has also introduced two “Green” variants of the car namely Fusion Hybrid and the Fusion Energi, a plug-in Hybrid EV. The latter is provided with a 7.6kWh lithium-ion battery, an electric motor and 2.0-litre petrol engine. With such battery pack up, it is capable of covering up to 19 miles on electric mode only. The efficient electric motor system allows to deliver better fuel economy and more engaging drive. If Malaysian market is concerned then Ford Fusion plug-in hybrid can dominate the market as the other Japanese brands are not available with their hybrids in the respective segment.
In the south-east countries, where the Japanese manufacturers are already dominating the market, in order to set footprints, the brand has come up with one of its best cars. Adding to the credibility of Ford in the country, Ford Ranger has registered 85 percent of the total sales and has achieved the title of the most popular truck in the country.
