Ford Everest facelift launched in Malaysia with new engine options
KUALA LUMPUR: Ford has been very active lately by introducing a good number of updated models in the ASEAN countries. The company has now launched the 2019 Everest SUV in the Malaysian market with a lot of changes and will be offering two variants on sale.
Aesthetically, the Trend trim rides on 18-inch wheels with 265-section tyres and has automatic xenon headlights and LEDs for the DRLs and tail light. There are fog lamps at both front and rear, along with automatic rain sensing wipers.
On the other hand, the top of the line Titanium variant has 20-inch wheels and has chrome elements on the door handles and wing mirrors. There is panoramic sunroof added to the package too.
Inside, there are some very premium features added, like the dual-zone automatic climate control with vents for the rear row. The seats, steering and gear knob are wrapped in leather upholstery. On the dashboard, there is an 8-inch touchscreen SYNC 3 infotainment system that comes integrated with Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto. The audio system is routed to 10 speakers.
The 2019 Ford Everest safety kit includes features like Electronic Stability Control, traction control, roll stability, seven airbags and ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution. Additionally, the Titanium trim has parking sensors for both front and rear and the company Blind Spot Information System. All of these have helped the car score a 5-star rating at the ASEAN NCAP.
The biggest change has come under the hood as Ford has replaced the 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre motors with a 2.0-litre unit with different tunings. The smaller variant has one turbocharger mated to the engine, enabling 180 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the motor under the hood of the Titanium has two turbochargers which manage 213 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. And as for the transmission, there is a 10-speed automatic gearbox unit replacing the previous 6-speed unit.
The Trend variant of the 2019 Ford Everest facelift has been priced at RM228,888 while the Titanium goes for RM258,888.
