Ford Bronco Raptor is coming in 2023, says a Linkedin account
KUALA LUMPUR: The Linkedin profile of a Ford engineer has accidentally blown the whistle that Ford is making a high-performance Raptor model of the recently debuted Bronco. Although rumours about the extra-rugged member of the Bronco family were swirling around even before the official premium of standard SUV, the leaked info just added fuel in the fire.
The information is brought in the limelight by the folks at Bronco6G forums who found the upcoming Bronco Raptor within the LinkedIn details of Bruce A. Richter, an EDS engineer at the Ford Motor Company. Richter's online CV reads, "Currently designing EDS (electrical distribution system)—schematics for 2021 Bronco / 2023 Bronco Raptor.”
According to profile screenshots revealed by Bronco6G, the individual has been an EDS engineer at Ford for nearly 30 years. This creates a doubt on the profile since a veteran like that is not going to take any intentional risks for bragging this confidential information. Moreover, the planned leaks also happen in the automotive world as a part of stealth marketing campaigns, so it might be done purposely.
Well, there is no confirmation at this moment. Even if we believe the leaked info, Bronco Raptor is not likely to arrive for another couple of years.
Just like the F-150 Raptor version, Ford Bronco's high-performance model is expected to feature more power, bigger tyres, more ground clearance, more aggressive bodywork, and, of course, a heftier price tag.
The standard Bronco houses a turbocharged 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder unit good for producing 270 hp and 420 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a seven-speed manual gearbox, while a 10-speed automatic is optional. For more oomph, the other powertrain on offer is a twin-turbocharged 2.7-litre V6 EcoBoost mill generating 310 hp and 542 Nm coupled with the 10-speed automatic transmission. So, it would not be surprising if the Raptor comes with 400 hp.
Amid all these rumours and leaks, Ford stays tight-lipped on the arrival of Bronco Raptor.
