First official images of the 2023 Kia Seltos released, global debut next month

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia’s hot-selling compact SUV, the Seltos, has finally received a new avatar in South Korea. While the automaker did not reveal details about the upgraded model, the revealed images are enough to figure out what’s new in the SUV. So, let’s know that in detail.

Exterior

The new Kia Seltos underpins the brand’s “Opposites United” design language just like its other revamped models. 

Although the car’s overall silhouette remains the same as the predecessor, it does get some noticeable changes for a sharper appearance. Up front, we can see the new headlights incorporating restyled kinked daytime running lights, known as the Star-map Signature Lighting. The new LED DRL setup now extends to the grille mesh. instead of wrapping around the upper part of the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille.

Also, part of the kit is the new set of alloys and a snazzier pair of LED tail lights that are linked with the light bar. The front and rear bumper also feature some minor tweaks, adding to the whole new look of the SUV.

Interior

Inside, the most significant change is apparent in the form of a new digital instrument panel, which gels nicely with the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There is also a reworked centre dashboard panel, featuring revised air vents and climate control switchgear. While there is no information on the added features, the revamped model is assumed to come with advanced driver-assistance gears, better connectivity options, and more.

Engine 

As mentioned earlier, there is no info about the new Seltos technical details. However, if we look at the reports, they suggest the continuation of the existing 115PS 1.5-litre diesel, 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and 115PS 1.5-litre petrol engine choices. As for the gearbox, a 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, 7-speed DCT, and a CVT are likely to be on the list.

Expected launch

The all-new Kia Seltos global debut will be held at the 2022 Busan International Motor Show in Korea, which is set to take place between July 14 and 24. The launch in South Korea and India is expected thereafter.
