First 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 as promised auctioned

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only a few days back that Chevrolet introduced the special edition of its pretty famous model, the Corvette. Called the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition, the car as can be guessed celebrates the company’s long and strong existence of 70 years, getting completed in 2023.

As promised, the very-first car would be auctioned for charity with the rest retailing from this summer. And so the day arrived when Barrett-Jackson dropped the hammer on the first unit that too for a whopping $3.6 million. Making it the most expensive Corvette ever auctioned.

The winning bid went to the founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies, Rick Hendrick. He was also the winning bidder of the first mid-engine Corvette Stingray with a hammer price of $3 million.

The winning proceeds from the 2023 Corvette Z06 sales will go to Operation Homefront, a national non-profit organisation that helps military families with their needs.

Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president, and CEO of Operation Homefront said, "The proceeds from the sale of this sensational Corvette Z06 will go a long way to helping us help our military families overcome their financial hardships and have the opportunity to thrive in the communities – our communities – they've worked so hard to protect."

Coming to this particular 2023 Corvette Z06 VIN 001 it benefits from the full 70th Anniversary Edition package including -

• Special Ceramic leather two-tone seats with suede inserts
• Suede steering wheel
• A special set of anniversary branded luggage

It all comes over and above the standard inclusions like a unique set of wheels with red edges and anniversary centre caps, red brake callipers, a rear bumper protector, and a trunk cover.

What powers the new 2023 Corvette Z06?

Powering the car is a naturally-aspirated 5.5-litre LT6 V8 mill with dual overhead camshafts and a flat-plane crankshaft. It churns out a max power of up to 650 hp and a peak torque of 623 Nm.
