Facelifted Kia Sorento 2.4 EX variant is now in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The facelifted Kia Sorento is being marketed in Malaysia in its two variants - the 2.4 EX and the 2.2D SX, starting at a price of RM 169,888 and RM179,888, respectively. Exterior and interior specification details, along with engine information pertaining to the base model 2.4 EX, is available now.

The facelifted Sorento 2.4 EX is equipped with a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder Theta II MPI petrol motor, generating a max power of 172 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 225 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic accompanied by an on-demand all-wheel-drive system. The 2.2D SX model derives its power from a 2.2-litre R turbocharged diesel engine, producing a maximum of 200 PS of power and peak torque of 442 Nm.

The Sorento’s appearance has been revised but in a subtle manner. In terms of external styling, the facelifted version of this boxy mid-size crossover SUV receives a few revisions. The air intakes and Kia’s signature “tiger nose” has been modified. The vehicle comes with adaptive LED headlights. Under the headlamps, the fog lamps are moulded in the shape of small ice cubes, and we now have a new rear bumper flaunting fake air-vents. Tail lamps now bear new embellishments. This EX variant rides on dual-tone alloy wheels measuring 18 inches.

Inside, it is tech-savvy with a new four-spoke steering wheel, redesigned seven-inch digital instrument display, dual-zone climate control, eight-way powered front seats, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, Qi wireless smartphone charging system, etc., to name a few.

The updated Sorento has not undergone any crash test yet. The auto brand has not incorporated collision-avoidance technology as standard in all its models. Both the 2.4 EX and 2.2D SX models feature six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX second-row child seat mounts, hill start assist, anti-lock braking system with EBD, brake assist, parking sensors both at the front and the rear, and a reverse camera.
