DS3 Crossback teased on the official Facebook page
KUALA LUMPUR: DS Automobiles Malaysia had teased the new DS3 Crossback on its official Facebook page. The photo was posted about a week ago on Facebook with the caption: “Take a bold step into the future. Re-style your driving persona and express a defining look on the road. Watch this space. The new year will arrive in full speed.”
It becomes quite evident now that we should be ready for the new DS3 Crossback. Revealed back in 2018, it is a compact crossover with funky looks. Inside is no different as it features a diamond-themed cluster and AC vents. The upholstery and seats also get diamond patterns.
It comes with a wheelbase of 2,558 mm and measures 4,118 mm in length and 1,791 mm in width that makes it 72mm smaller than Audi Q2 in length. The width of the two is about the same while the wheelbase of Audi Q2 measures 2,600 mm. One noticeable part of DS3 Crossback’s exterior is the rear doors-mounted shark fin.
While we are still waiting for the DS3 Crossback launch in our territory, it is available in markets like Europe with petrol, diesel and E-Tense electric versions. Powering the petrol is the 1.2-litre three-cylinder PureTech engine that’s on offer in three different power states, 100 PS, 130 PS and 155 PS, mated to either an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox.
The diesel variant, on the other hand, is powered by the 1.5-litre BlueHDi engine that can be bought in two power outputs, 130 PS and 100 PS, mated with the same transmission options like the petrol. AWD option is also available with both combustion engines.
Talking about the electric trim, it comes with a 50 kWh li-ion battery and engine that’s capable of pumping out a max power of 136 PS and peak torque of 260 Nm. Its WLTP range is 300 km. The crossover can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.7 seconds. On a fast DC charger, the battery can be charged up to 80% in about 30 minutes.
